Opening weekend 2014

Here we are--Sam, Mae and I, along with Sophie and Lily--Sam and Mae's dogs. What follows is a photo journal of what we've done, and what we plan to do. I'm hoping to update this each evening before bed. So far, so good!

Day 1 (5/2/14)

Sam and I drove up in his car. Sophie (Mae's dog) was also with us. We made the noon. Stopped at Maine Hardware and Whole Foods.

I was happy because we made the noon!

TASKS COMPLETED ON DAY 1 (5/2/14)

Got a shellfish license! Happy as a clam.

Went to the town hall, got registration stickers for all vehicles and boat. Put motorcycle and scooter registration stickers on (and Mini and Azul, too).

Put registration sticker on Azul.

Talked with Tyler Weagle about clearing brush.

Sam did a bunch of raking!

Put hose out.

Removed mildew from upper upper deck stairs with TSP & bleach.

What a difference!

Step cleaner.

The mildew killer combo.

Put Mini registration under seat

Got the mini running (started easily), filled her with gas, added to oil to bring it up to full, filled the tires to 25 PSI.

Filled up mini ($15 got 75% tank full)

Topped off Mini's oil.

Fixed chain saw with parts I ordered over the winter (chain tensioning knob, new gas tank lid)

Saw a rainbow!

Brush pile near upper that Tyler Weagle will haul away. 1-2 loads (at $25 per load).

Tree pile that Tyler Weagle will cut to fireplace length and split ($30).

TASKS REMAINING

Clean, sand and paint Wakame. Fix hole beginning to develop in skeg. Put inspection port in aft seat to drain, and apply reinforcement to prevent leaking from the other side.

Fix the screen that blew out over the winter.

Set the outhaul.

Clean and organize the garage

Install lower screen.

Get new oar leathers.

Organize upper outdoor closet.

Got grass seed (for area above gazebo, and potentially above upper)

Still need to put this grip tape on stairs to upper deck.

Still need to do more raking.

Day 2 (5/3/14)

Another sunny and beauty-full day!

Gave the chalkboard a cleanse. Before:

After:

About to apply grip tape...

...et voila!

Moved upper upper deck furniture up.

Narrator.

Update firmware on router in an attempt to improve intermittent behavior. Also moved to top shelf to maximize range. Seemed to have worked...

Mae just starting to rake "the patch"

Et voila--go, Mae!

Doesn't fit :(

Sanded, and it fit!

I'm taking a pole: who thinks this rake needs to be fixed?

Sammers, the raker of all rakers.

Second only to Mae

The mini could use a vacuum--shop vac?

Some animal ate our oak-leafed hydrangea that Peter and Betsy gave us :( Oh deer!

Some workbench org

Rounding up a few poison ivy shoots.

Installing upper screens. A bit tight, nothing some sanding wouldn't fix.

Dump load of junk in the garage!

Off to the dump!

A cleaner looking workbench.

Puzzling

S's

Colorful compost
