Inaugural Trip, 2012: May 13-17

Sam, Luke, Sally and I were the first ones to the island this year.

Sunday, May 13
Sally, Sam and I arrive on the noon boat. As has become a first-trip tradition, we stop at Whole Foods for food and drink, at Skillins for plants to begin the garden, and at Maine Roasters for a caffeinated beverage to revive our spirits. There's a new white bus this year, instead of the normal blue one.

Sam, Sally and I get started on tasks right away. Sam rakes. Sally clears the garden. And I do yearly opening-up tasks: remove chimney cap, get cars going (escort started after battery charge and right rear tire pump, mini started right up but no gas in tank), put new registration stickers on cars and put registration and insurance paperwork inside, do a walk through of the houses--which look great since Cindy and her crew had come.

Luke arrived on the 3:30, and Sal and I meet him in the Escort.

Monday, May 14
Today's the day we install Daddy's headstone at the cemetery.

Memorial Day 2011

Sal and I were the first ones to the island this year. We had a wonderful late May trip with sailing, cooking, eating, gardening, and relaxing. Snippets of our time:

Gahden
Tomatoes were planted

Boats
Dinghy was painted and commissioned
Lyra was commissioned
Jib was chewed by mice, patched and washed.

Cah
The mini had issues once again, failing to start. The starter got jammed, Clint came to the rescue and got us out of the jam.

Trees
Trimming ensued to provide gahden more sun exposure.

Yahd work
Lots.
